Briquetting is a process where some tpe of material is compressed under high pressure.
If the material is wood, the lignin content of the wood is liberated under this pressure thus binding the material liberate various adhesives. during the compression of the material, temperature rise sufficiently to make the raw material liberate various adhesives. however, to make this process successful, the moisture in the raw material to evaporate. At hifh moisture contents, steam pockets may build up during this process thus leading to expanson which will demolish the briquette.
At the optimum moisture content for briquetting purposes varies with the raw material, we know from exprience that the recommended water content is from min. 6% to max. 16% and higher qualithy deteriorate considerably until briquette becomes impossible.
